The decision for Rondar to run with North sails for OEM supply was both difficult and easy. Difficult, because we have run with Hyde Sails for many years and have nothing but praise for them as a supplier. We are also supportive of the other lofts that we work with in all the different classes that we build, and they will continue to be very important suppliers in the various fleets. However with Rondar starting our own factory in the US and starting to promote the Viper as a new product into Europe, we need to work in partnership with suppliers who have both strong European and North American brands and have the capacity to meet demand as we grow.
Easy, because North clearly stand head and shoulders above the rest in this respect, and we have worked with them throughout the last year on a total re-design of the Enterprise class in the UK, which is the most numerical class in the UK and the bedrock of the UK dinghy scene. For Rondar to be selected by the International Enterprise Association for this task was a great honour, and the new boat has met with great acclaim. The CEO of North One Design in Europe, Paul Hobson, sailed the prototype to second overall at the Enterprise championships in 2011. At the same time the K6 class had already made a decision to change suppliers to North in response to their emerging markets in NA and central Europe, so the natural progression was to add the Viper to this programme. North have worked closely with us to create the new sail designs, and will continue to develop products with us as we move forwards in these new markets.
So for 2012 we are delighted to be able to offer the latest North designs on our products, and will be pleased to welcome Norths One design sail designers, Ched Proctor, Chuck Allen, and Chris Snow amongst others to sail on our boats and continue to offer the best products at the best value that we can to the market place.
