This is being done to provide better steering and control in heavier conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-287\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rondarboats.com\/news\/latestnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Viper-new-rudder.png\" alt=\"Viper 640 New Rudder\" width=\"700\" height=\"419\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.rondarboats.com\/news\/latestnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Viper-new-rudder.png 700w, http:\/\/www.rondarboats.com\/news\/latestnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Viper-new-rudder-300x180.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><br class=\"\" \/>The Class Approved Viper vertical rudder adapter kits are available for pre-order at the Rondar parts website:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/shop.rondarraceboats.com\/index.asp?cg=Viper&amp;cur=USD\" target=\"_blank\">North American Orders<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/shop.rondarraceboats.com\/index.asp?cg=Viper&amp;cur=GBP\" target=\"_blank\">Australian &amp; European Orders<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">The adapter kit includes a new rudder bracket to replace your current one (see photo below) plus an angled tiller so you can use your existing rudder.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Depending upon demand, Rondar expects to ship the first batch in early April.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">As the vertical rudder orientation is expected to generate higher loads on the hardware, Rondar is only building the new gudgeon plates with 10mm bearings for the stronger 10mm pintles. The upside is that these are a wearing part, so the smaller 8mm pintles would have to be replaced at some point anyway. Boats with sail numbers #224 or higher came with 10mm diameter rudder pintles and should order the \u201cA kit\u201d ($160 \/\u00a0\u00a3120).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Boats with sail numbers up to and including #223 should order the &#8220;B kit\u201d ($320 \/\u00a0\u00a3214).\u00a0This kit includes a pair of 10mm Seasure rudder pintles in addition to the gudgeon and tiller. Some boats may already have replaced their pintles, and therefore we recommend that you measure the pins on your rudder before ordering.
